Thanks to my supportive parents, I started working early as a lifeguard and swim instructor. This wasn’t just a job; it was where I learned to think on my feet and handle real-life challenges. I began my training in lifesaving when I was quite young, starting with basic swimming lessons and building up to more serious stuff like managing airways and performing CPR with AED, which I completed at Angus Glen in Markham.
By April 2023, I had qualified as a Swim and Emergency First Aid Instructor at Centennial Pool in Markham. Teaching swimming to kids, I not only ensured their safety but also helped them gain confidence in the water. Keeping my first aid skills fresh every two years and recently getting certified in Airway Management were crucial for my roles. These experiences taught me how to make quick decisions and solve problems effectively, skills that are vital well beyond the poolside.
